Frequently asked questions

Why don't practice puzzles ever contain the letter S?

The real daily puzzle famously never uses S — it's a deliberate design choice of the game it's modeled on, because S would make plurals trivial and flood every puzzle with easy words. When Spelling Bee Word Generator creates a random practice puzzle for you, it follows the same rule, so practice puzzles feel like the real thing.

The app found a word that my game didn't accept (or missed one it did) — is that a bug?

Usually not. Spelling Bee Word Generator searches its own bundled dictionary of 81,000+ words and shows you everything that matches the letters or pattern you entered. Whatever puzzle you're actually playing keeps its own separate word list, and every game's list disagrees with every dictionary somewhere at the edges — obscure words, proper nouns, and abbreviations are the usual culprits. The app finds every word in its dictionary; your game decides what it accepts.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. Every solver works completely offline — the word list ships with the app and all matching happens on your device. The only time the app ever reaches the network is if you tap a word to see its definition and the built-in Apple dictionary doesn't already have that word. See the privacy policy for the full detail.

Which games does it work with?

Any honeycomb-style spelling puzzle, popular daily word-guess games, crosswords and other fill-in-the-blank puzzles, letter-tile rack games, and jumbles. Enter what you know in the matching solver and it finds the words.

Is my data collected or shared?

No. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads in the app. See the privacy policy for the one narrow exception involving dictionary lookups.
